23.09.2024 2 pm // Empowering Musicians in the Digital Era: Web3 Unleashed

Overview:

This workshop, curated and led by, Josh Savage, seeks to demystify the power of web3 technologies in reshaping the music industry. As Europe's leading expert in web3 music, I bring a unique perspective, bolstered by my direct experience in leveraging these technologies to significantly advance my music career. This includes self-funding tours and securing opportunities to perform with notable artists such as Robbie Williams and Snow Patrol.

Key Workshop Highlights:

  • Web3 in Music – An Introduction: A comprehensive overview of how blockchain and NFTs are crafting a new paradigm for artists, underscored by my journey and the substantial impact it's had on my career.
  • Case Study – "Love Letters" NFT Collection: Insight into how this project mirrored the revenue of 50 million Spotify streams, showcasing the immense potential of web3 for artists.
  • Global Digital Community Building: Strategies for leveraging web3 to cultivate a loyal fanbase, centered around the principle of "1000 true fans". This concept emphasises the importance of a smaller, dedicated audience over a vast, superficial follower count, demonstrating a viable path to independence and success.
  • Practical Tools and Platforms for Musicians: From creating a MetaMask wallet to navigating platforms for music NFT releases, this segment will arm attendees with the knowledge and tools needed to actively engage with the web3 space.
  • Empowering Artists Through Innovation: Focusing on how web3 enables artists to maintain creative control, own their IP rights, and develop direct, meaningful connections with their audience.

Aims of the Workshop:

My goal is to inspire and empower artists to explore new, innovative career paths using web3 technologies. This workshop is designed to provide musicians with a blueprint for achieving independence, financial viability, and creative freedom in the digital age.

Attached to this email, you'll find my CV, outlining my experiences and achievements that underscore my leadership in the web3 music space. I'm eager to delve into these topics with the Music Pool Berlin community, guiding them through the evolving landscape of the music industry.

I look forward to discussing this proposal further and exploring how we can collaborate to make this workshop a reality. Thank you once again for considering this initiative. Together, we can illuminate a new path for artists, showcasing a future where they can thrive independently and creatively.

03.09. 17.09 and 24.09. Workshop series : THE WORLD IS A PROMPT

The World is A Prompt is a three-part, hands-on workshop about the art of lyric writing. It was designed around three core pillars:

  1.        Inspiration is everywhere and can be accessed at will.
  2.        The zone, also known as the flow state, can be induced.
  3.        Mindfulness leads to connected living, which translates to embodied art.

All three sessions will take place outdoors, literally using the city as a prompt: the people, the architecture, scents, and sounds. We will work with a mindfulness framework, practice deep listening and observation. The lyric writing exercises will include visual writing, perspective shifting, synesthesia, dream logic, etc. All of the exercises will be done in a stream of consciousness modality. Participants will be encouraged to use the repertoire of exercises to create a sustainable daily creative practice routine.

Day 1: Introduction to stream-of-consciousness writing, directed stream-of-consciousness writing, and using the world around you as a prompt. Different prompted writing exercises: visual writing, emotional research, perspective shifting, dream logic, etc.

Day 2: Introduction to mindfulness as deep listening and deep observation. Writing exercises using the street as a source of prompts (visual and sonic).

Day 3: Deploying the tools collected over the past few weeks to city-prompted writing exercises and collaborative writing. Designing prompts, creating a daily routine.

ABOUT

Łukasz Polowczyk, aka AINT ABOUT ME, is a Berlin-based sound artist, poet, and educator. His work explores the signal distortion that occurs when a poetic frame or intentionality is isolated and then transposed into different expressions and media. In his world, a poem can be a sound-art piece, a spoken word composition backed by an experimental jazz ensemble, a site-specific audio-visual installation, a book, or a series of grainy, abstract photos. Steven Barker (Wire Magazine) called him “an artist who specializes in the most candid forms of gritty self-exploration.” Electronic Sound introduced his work (Noise in the Key of Life) as “provocative and meditative, blurring the line between art and life.” Lukasz is the creator of LET THAT INK FLOW, a course that combines mindfulness practice with stream of consciousness and different creative writing techniques.
