How did Sale's story from one of the Waltari's first gigs continue? What happened in Espoo (Finland) in spring 1986 that made it so memorable? Dear fans and friends, let's find out!
All in all, there was no so many people there, mostly some alcoholics and other side road walkers were paying attention to our tunes, and came to freak out in the front row. Especially I remember one drunk old timer coming to speak to my drum chair, while I was beating my fast beat out in full sweat, and he just came knocking on my shoulder, and kept on talking to me while I was still playing.
Still, this was again a good example, that you can never tell, which can be an important gig and which is not. The nice detail is, that the organizator of the gig was a guy we called Lennu (Heikki A Leinonen), the remaining of the original hippie scene of 1960´s Helsinki☺. He really fell in love to the song Pala Leipää there, and immediately started to hustle with it, trying to get the song into the very famous annual schlager song competition at that time in Finland called "Syksyn Sävel", for later the year. He even booked us a studio for recording the song and paid for it. So, that was our second studio session (2nd Demo-May 1986), from which is this legendary Pala Leipää version coming out, and later our first video, which was made for the schlager competition October 1986. The funniest thing was, that we ended up getting it into the TV, not exactly into the game itself, but they shooted a video of it and broadcasted it in Fin TV 1 prime time, so that was the first time the band got some media attention. Not bad, thinking, that there wasn´t any record release, neither any deal, still in sight at all.
